I tried to upgrade to Edgy by changing my sources, but then my XGL/Gnome sessions stopped working.

I could still log onto my other account though, and I tried to back up my stuff before reformatting rather than trying to fix the mess I made, but it turns out that I didn't have enough disk space to burn anything (it wrote an image first), so now my hard drive is at 0 Bytes of space, and I can't even log onto failsafe terminal because of that.

I'm writing this from the LiveCD write now, it's just to let people know that you shouldn't try to upgrade to Edgy this way, especially if you did things like install XGL the oldschool manual way (It asked five times during upgrade whether it should change a file, and I clicked Yes).

On a more positive note, I might give Kubuntu a shot when I reformat and see how that goes.

I am just wondering why you did it that way since so many places indicate you need to do "update-manager -c" to update ?
