Evening all - just wondered if anyone has any advice/suggestions for a noobuntu (6.06 - DD)

Want to be able to move music (mp3s) to and from a new ipod nano 4gb.

I have installed Banshee - and can load and play "local" files no problem.

I think that the nano is mounted right - at least I can see it, and the files within from the file browser.

But Banshee cannot see the ipod - and therefore cannot "synch" with it :-?

Any suggestions appreciated!

you actually have a lot of choices... keep at banshee, try amarok, use gtkpod or yamipod, or install rockbox onto the nano and use a filemanager to transfer files.

each one has ads/disads... as a personal note, i tried all of the above (banshee, amarok, gtkpod, yamipod, pos-pod... okay, i made the last one up, just get the point i tried them all) and got HORRIFICALLY bad speeds. for two other guys i was posting with, reinstalling ubuntu while the nano was connected fixed their speed issues, but i wasn't willing to do that... so...

rockbox (http://www.rockbox.org) was the answer for me. i also find it appealing because of it's skinning abilities and the fact it plays any type of music files, not just mp3's or aac's.

If it's the new iPod nano (alu case) then it's not supported yet. Apple has changed the layout of the files on the new generation ipods, so all players on linux can't recognize the nano as they identified the old ipods anymore.
