When I recently was without X and tried to solve my problem with these forums in links, I realized how hard it is to navigate this site in a text browser.

I realize that this is, and probably should be, a low-priority task, but I think some things could be done to improve the text-mode navigability of this site.

Been there too, I agree totally.

However, this post should be in Forum feedback -subforum: http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=48. Quoting the instructions for accessibility sub-forum:

Accessibility refers to software used primarily by people who are deaf, are mobility impaired, or have sight problems including colour blindness or dyslexia.

In the meanwhile, I just tried the site using elinks and it works pretty well...it's still a text mode browser but a little more modern than links...just a thought.

EDIT: I just checked...actually the site looks the same in elinks as in links, so we just have a different opinion of whether it is easy/difficult to navigate in a text mode browser...that's not saying your opinion is wrong, just that I don't share it. Anyway, I'll let an admin respond when one is available and can do so.

matthew, I re-evaluated and I have to admit you are correct -- The bad experience I had was probably using w3m in a virtual console with a default VGA resolution... That's a bad user interface, but there's not a lot Ubuntuforums.org can do about it :)
