Hey dudes and dudettes!! :D

I wanna know something - prob sound kinda obvious but - when I go to the ISO download dir, it has LOADS of ISOS for diff dates, which are the daily builds.

Now I got that, but am I right in thinking they build an updated ISO image *EVERY* day??:o

WOW! - there is MAJOR behind the scenes work going on, if that is the case - just wanted some feedback. If someone could explain how all this works, Im an avid learner with oodles of space in my mind, desparate to be filled with morsels of information!.

Thanks

i am willing to post and help you ONLY because you used my favorite phrase "dudes and dudettes"

the daily builds you see i am guessing are of Edgy. yes, they do daily builds because it is being changed every day.

if you want the latest STABLE release (Dapper 6.06) then go here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/download

you can click on any of the mirrors, like this one:
http://ubuntu-releases.cs.umn.edu//6.06/

there you can pick from the pantheon of architectures, torrents, and straight ISO files.

if you are looking for Edgy then i suggest looking here:
http://www.ubuntu.com/news/EdgyBeta?highlight=%28edgy%29%7C%28beta%29

this is the beta, not a daily build but should be pretty good.

Come to think of it, I don't know exactly, but I was under the impression there was a central location for the work done on Ubuntu. There's an automated CD image generated every day, which is why you can download a daily image and get ... completely broken stuff. (I've done that.)

Perhaps someone else can supply proper details. I have a feeling I'm a bit wide of the mark. :-k

@ raublekick

Hey thanks - you have just confirmed what I had assumed - daily builds with broken bits sometimes, but they are build regardless I guess, just for testing and proving purposes.

I appreciate the links, also - I currently have http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/
and use that to find all the builds I need. To be honest I was never the biggest fan of Dapper Drake - Edgy looks a *LOT* more appealing/clever and a sight more polished also!. It is *ONLY* Edgy Eft that takes my interest. In this same respect, I have a box full of 5.10 discs from Canonical "shipit" program... anyone want them?........... *long pause*....... NO, thought not!!.

Thanks for your time!.
