i voted fresh light blue, but i'm not too sure about my vote. I'd rather see a mockup or something first, and then vote.

I'd go for olive green, I think.

I can't give mockups yet, sorry :)
I'll make mockups of a few colors when I did some thinking :)

Having problems making up my mind about this one. I like the idea of the blue , lime green and a nice strong orange. :)

Hmm ... orange appears to be winning O_o

Orange is far too worn out.. it is very hot as color but blue would be my favourite, tranquilizing and friendly, hence fresh in some way.

i voted for grey. i think grey goes well with anything and its easy on the eye.
orange and lime green are far too bright, light blue reminds me too much of mandriva and kde, and olive green is too sickly.

Making a whole theme from one color is hard, have to get the color just right. Trust me I spent a long time trying to make a black themed gnome desktop, it came out nice but not all black. Tricky to get everything in one color and at the same time be usable.

No the best is to choose a color combination you like, two colors I think is nice. I just re themed my DE to Green (as in leaves, not radioactive lime) and grey/whiteish, came out very nice.

Leafgreen in combination with some nice grey is great and looks very professional from my point of view.

Lime green. Why?

* Blue: overused
* Olive green: depressing
* Orange: basically what we have
* Gray: see olive green

why not red. it doesnt have to graduate to yellow like with tangerine, but it - should - be on the same part of the spectrum as the original human theme.

bright terracotta red - not brown or orange - would be just as fresh and far more appropriate.

lime green has no resemblance to human. Be a bit more subtle, or it will just end up looking like suse or beos,

i like the current brown orangeish colors that we have, it gives us an identity. Not many other distrubutions or other OSes have orange as their main color.

Brown....honestly I think we should stick with the Human Theme,...incorporating browns and oranges.....why fix what isn't broke?

I'm going for green. :)
It's fresh and looks great but stays easy for the eyes.

That is a great green theme.
Tough, the theme I'll try to make will be totally different :)

There was a theme for FVWM that was called Simple Green...

http://fvwm.lair.be/viewtopic.php?t=1478

I really like the way that looks. I think there is something similar for GNOME, but let's face it, Ubuntu's art team can make it better.

Edit: Hey, there it is! ^^^^^^

I have to agree with this. Believe it or not, the Human theme says to me, "Relax, just sit back, put in some smooth jazz, light a fire and get geeky with it."

I think the default theme is really good. Except for possibly the fonts, I would say windows xp (which is a good looking OS in my books) is uglier than ubuntu.

I can accept a lot of people in the ubuntu community like the brown/orange. It does put a lot of windows users off in my experience (mostly those who don't really understand the customising potential of Linux and usually leave things as they are, and think things should be left as they are)

If I'm being honest, doesn't affect me at all. I never like the themes given to me by the developers, and always customise/change it to my liking :D

plaid. Which tartan? Because not all tartans are created equal.
