View Full Version : americans obsessed with father/son conflict?

It just seems to me that almost every movie/show I watch coming from the US about families involves some sort of father/son conflict... the son who wants to make the father proud, the father who doesn't understand the son and so on...
Now correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think this is the case with European movies. Any thoughts on this?

It depends greatly of what type of movies you watch. American cinema is a vast industry, with many perpectives, some of them not well known. Try independent movies, more obscure ones, and not the Hollywood ones, for instance.
