View Full Version : is it possible to download just 1 file from a torrent?

just wondering if its possible to download a particular file from a torrent without downloading them all.

perhaps i should say... are there any clients that allow this?

I know that utorrent supports this. You have to use wine and run it through wine, but it does do this function. There is no install for utorrent either. Install wine, download utorrent and put it in a folder in your home drive and make a link through wine to utorrent.

If you don't mind the KDE-ness of it, Ktorrent supports this. Be sure to get the latest version (2.0.2) though - it's available from Backports.

I'm sure that some of the command=line clients support this, too, but I've never used any of them.

i also know that bitcomet in windows also supports this, so i know its possible.

i dont know any linux ones that do it though

Bittornado supports it, it's in the repos.
