Hi,

This is my first visit to the ubuntu forums and i like it here already!. what do you guys think of such a laptop? i find it a very good deal for just 299 euros especially considering you get ubuntu pre installed on it and a intel 1.5 ghz processor.

a huge 80gb 5400rpm disk costs 65 eu and 512 mb of memory is aorund 120 eu
so 200 + to make it like normal low end computer, that means that computer would cost 500+ eu
still a good deal

fix your budget and try to spend to the last cent , if U try to save some € for something with lower perfomance in one months or 2 you will regret it

20 G is small nad 128 mb of ram is far below the standar for a normal user

Look on Ebay. I heard that you can get a really decent laptop for something around 200 usd, which is probably like 300 euros.

You can get it without anything loaded on it, then install ubuntu for free.

Mips has highlighted some downsides but didn't point out that the Intel845 graphics will want some of that system RAM...

I'd get the best second hand ThinkPad you can afford.
