There was a discussion a while back on which filesystem Ubuntu should use as default. It may have been here in the cafe or in the Edgy section. But I remember some people bringing up the point that OpenSuse was using ReiserFS to support their statements on why Ubuntu should be using it too. Well, here's the latest: they're dropping ReiserFS for ext3 (http://linux.wordpress.com/2006/09/27/suse-102-ditching-reiserfs-as-it-default-fs/).
