I'm taking a computer class called Information Technology. Basically we do alot of stuff like screen printing tshirts, program Lego Mindstorms, design websites, some image editing, etc.

Were useing alot of commercial programs in the class and our teacher said it might be a good idea if he put a piece of paper on the wall where we could recommend free replacements to commercial programs instead of just pirating the software we use in class for at home. I decided to take it a step further and make a list of all the useful freeware I know of and give it to him on Monday so he can run off copies for his classes.

My goals were to make as complete a list as possible but have it still fit on 1 page. Just tell me if I missed anything (remember, to add something I have to delete something) or if you have any suggestions on how to make it better. I would have liked to have just attached it as a PDF but it was too big so I took a picture of it and saved it as JPEG.

SharpDevelop (http://www.icsharpcode.net/OpenSource/SD/) open source IDE for MS .NET development (Windows only, though). SDK's are freely downloadable from here (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vcsharp/aa336744.aspx)

I made room/merged some stuff and added Scribus (desktop publishing), Blender (3D graphics), Gaim (instant messaging), and ClamWin/ClamAV (anti-viruses).

I think I got it all. Thanks for the help those of you that did.

Heres the final version the teacher made copies of and handed out to the class. Figured I'd share it incase anyone here ever had to do something similar they could just use mine (or use mine as a reference for useful freeware/open source programs) instead of having to reinvent the wheel.

I was a little worried that he would look up Wolfenstein Enemy Territory and magic marker it it off the list before he made copies on the count of it being M rated but either he didn't look it up or didn't care \\:D/
