Hey to all on these here boards, i thought i'd introduce myself, my names TayloR, and im a new first time user to Ubuntu, but not with the whole linux concept, ive used a few other distros and im now trying my hands at this one. Anyhoo i just thought i'd say hey to you all :).

Well as im new to ubuntu i just thought id ask, is there any hints or tips i should know? anything i should read before taking a step further?

hey taylor, welcome to the community!

there are many things you can do with ubuntu. i guess my question is, what do you want to do? :)

first step is check this guide here : http://www.ubuntuguide.org it has MUCH information that i think you will find helpful. if you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them.

Well thankyou all for the warm welcome, nice to see that the community on these boards is a friendly polite one at that :)..

Thanks for the guides link, ill be reading this straight away, going to attempt to get Ubuntu up and runing either tonight or tomorrow.

Hey thanks alot for that url, ill be reading alot of those once i get my system up and running with Ubuntu :). Anything that can be tweaked to make it go faster or function more efficiently ill do it :). Also im a sucker for customising interfaces, cant have an ugly interface now can we :P

Thanks mike998, and yeah ive only been here & using kubuntu for a few days and ive already learnt alot, great boards + great community ;-)
