kickoff is Novell's new KDE menu, and I want it in my ubuntu, but I have no idea where to even find the source, can someone build some or point me to the place to get the source

Has it been released yet?

I believe it's included in openSUSE 10.2 alpha4 which was released on September 8th.

Edit:
A quick google search for kickoff source comes up with
http://www.kde-forum.org/artikel/15214/Kickoff-source-code.html
which suggests
svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/branches/work/suse_kickoff
It doesn't look like anyone on that forum has gotten it to compile yet.

I would also like to see it working in kubuntu.

I know this is a stupid question, but will it work in gnome?

I'll play with it over the weekend but no one is able to get it to compile, it fails with the same error for everyone

P.S. I need the 2.6.17 kernel to work my hardware so I'm on edgy right now, I hope that doesn't cause problems

any news about whether it'll be part of kde4?

darkhatter

I don't think it is anymore, because it is coded with qt 3.5. I was reading it somewhere

well if that's the problem a simple porting would do wouldn't it?
even though I'm still hoping for something even more revolutionary from the kde people.

I'm ever so tempted to install it, but I don't have enough room at my home PC for it right now.. I guess I'll let it crack my laptop.

Ahh, it's either that or wait. I'm so impatient :p

sudo apt-get install kbfx

Right-click the panel, add to panel, and select kbfx

It's actually in decent shape right now, newer since I tried, then again I'm on a newer KDE than the last time I tried it.

I think I still prefer Kmenu, but kbfx is fun

Will it be included in a kubuntu update? or will you have to install it intentionally?

darkhatter

I don't think kbfx is the same as the Novell kde panel, I could be wrong.
