So do you want to learn or do you want a degree cheap?

excellent intro guide.
I just read them. Impressed. There are more ofcourse. Sadly, the more distros you use like debian-based, gentoo-based, slack-based, and rpm based, the more capable you become at managing all types. I love Ubuntu dapper for its ease and simplicity.

This forum is the best place of help and education.

Keep up the great works guys. And even when or If I go back to Vector after VL6 is official, I would always keep a Dapper PC going because it is simply easy to work in and could be as powerful as you take it.

The community is ridiculously active and awesome.

You basically have 4 certification options:
Linux Professional Institute - http://www.lpi.org/en/lpi/english/certification
CompTIA (Linux+) - http://certification.comptia.org/linux/default.aspx
Red Hat - https://www.redhat.com/training/
Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/partners/certification/pro (Based on LPI with extras)

As for pricing you will have to call local IT training vendors in your area.

All the above would be good except for the CompTIA, my experience with CompTIA is that thier training is not to great. The Ubuntu & LPI are basically the same except Ubuntu has a few extra modules. So if you do the Ubuntu one you could also get LPI certified. Red Hat is probably the most well known one but pretty vendor specific. Red Hat is used in a big chunk of enterprises so will probably be the most welcomed cert from an employer perspective.

The above are my opinions and not necesarily correct.

IBM has some nice courses available online and for free, they include some test.
