I want to write a java program for ubuntu 6.06 but it seems support for the serial and parallel ports isn't included in the jre...
i have seen some instructions for sun version 1.4 but i am using 1.5
does anyone know how to get comm support into the 1.5 environment or perhaps i should use a different java vm
I am quite discouraged at this point since it seems its going to be a massive hurdle for any users of my program to get an environment that will be able to access the com ports
anyone got any suggestions as to whats needed to extend the 1.5jre to support comm or an alternative vm with comm built in.
