I like the naming scheme for Ubuntu releases..... Warty Warthog, Hoary Hedgehog, great neames all.

Is there a master list of names for say...... the next few years? I hope there are enough rodent type animals to support all the releases. :-)

Some suggestions:

- Obfuscating Oppossum
- Busy Beaver
- Mastocating Marmoset (no that's not a dirty word)
- Persnickity Porcupine
- Riparian Rabbit (with an obscure nod to "Keeping Up Appearences")
- Squirrley Squirrel
- Woeful Wombat
- Lugubrious Lemming
- Chummy Chipmunk
- Groping Groundhog
- Playful Platypus

:-)

Yeah, I thought they were funny. I picture these Pokemon-type critters in Ninja suits or something...... end up with a zoo of them.

Hahahahaha-

Just to Keep RMS happy, all names should be followed by "Gnutty GNU"!

Your genius astounds me :) If allen knows what he's talking about, they're following Grumpy Groundhog with Perky Penguin, so it's open to ANY animals. That should be enough to last a few hundred years :)

don't blame me :P.

i saw daniels post about a perky penguin when talking about support for older versions. (they will support versions upto 2 years ago). paraphrased... "when perky penguin is released warty warthog will be ending its support schedule".

it may not be finalised :P.

Sadly, I've only been able to put my "genius" to work here..... :-)

This ain't a paying gig, is it?

Other animals could get real interesting.....

Maybe fish and birds too?

Torqued Titmouse
Truncated Trout
Whispering Wildabeast
Cacaphonic Chicken

Oh wait.......

Yes, it's forming....

An idea.....

An ode to Monty Python.......

The name?

The Larch.

The Larch.

The Larch.

And now for something completely different.

The next list will be brought to you by Labotomized Lllama.

(That's a stripped down, embedded version. :-)

I kill me.......

And I'm *still* on the clock!

Yes!

I like truncated trout. Can you imagine the logo? Half a trout, looking all confused because his other half is gone?

Brilliant!

However, I think having 'truncated' in a Linux distro's release name would be bad luck. ;)

Sorry to bump this age-old thread... but...

I found a very intersting page googling around yesterday... and basically it lists some interesting names for Ubuntu releases.

It's a cool work, so I'm sharing with the community.
