I tried it, it didn't work for me - I couldn't even turn off the computer... anyone else tried it? What are your experiences?
I really liked the desktop, I have to say. I wonder how Mezzo would perform with Ubuntu... *ponder*

Wonder no more, just do a search for "Mezzo on Ubuntu" for a complete howto. I have the Mezzo repository in my list, but I'm too chicken to install anything from it :-)

Yay, it worked! I'm currently using Mezzo, freshly installed as I type. I love this... ;D

I wish I knew how to take one... I've always used this Gnome applet for taking screenshots :P I can't find the print screen button on my laptop's keyboard. This is going to be one of these things you've just got to get used to... but I can tell you, it seems much faster than both gnome and KDE, possibly also faster than the xubuntu desktop, at least on my machine, which freezes up frequently even when using Puppylinux...

Use GIMP to acquire a screenshot.

Good idea... So here it goes:

Basic, default look. The "menu's" are in the corners - files, trash, programs, system; the desklet thingies are there by default too. I hadn't edited anything yet when taking these screenshots.

That's how you access programs - the easiest seems to be just clicking "run program" and writing a command, though.

Files menu and KDE app running.

The default file manager... it isn't very pretty, I admit, but you can also use any Gnome/ KDE equivalent. I'm using Konqueror in Mezzo also.

Thats rox-filer you can edit the icons by right-clicking, scroll down to the second option, and form there find the set icon option. After that you can just drag and drop an icon.
You can also add thumbnails for video and pics files(png, jpeg, pdf, others). I had to use a newer version then the rox-filer found in the repos to install the thumbnail apps but it was pretty straight forward.
You can also set a picture to be used as the background in the rox-filer windows.

I'm talking about the default file manager in your last picture.
