Another one bites the dust.
Does this effect aMule? (I don't think so).
For a/emule filters, go to www.bluetack.co.uk

emule/amule is a ed2k client in the same way as edonkey. So yes

No, eMule (and therefore aMule) are fine. Nobody used eDonkey anymore, anyhow. eMule does require a server, unlike bittorrent; however, there are plenty of servers out there. The p2p scene will be unchanged by this development.

I never used eDonkey2000 anyway. I did see a couple of download links that used it, but there was always regular download links too. BitTorrent is all I need.

With Kademlia around, I am not sure if eMule needs servers...?

Meh, false alarm. It's just that the official edonkey-client has been shut down. Emule and ed2k ain't going nowhere. Keep on muling!

edonkey2000 will download automatic update which will remove it
that wont have any effect to other clients / servers
since ed2k doesnt have 'central' server it cant be shutdown (that easily)

So it all sounds as if it's mostly a publicity stint.
Nice to know that I can visit the edonkey page if I want to know my IP - without all the ads that come with whatismyip.com
Thanks RIAA for this new handy tool :D
