Please Recommend - Desktop blogging software

I use wordpress.com for my blog but the web-based interface for creating and editing blog entries is very slow and tedious. Can people recommend a good desktop blogging software that is compatible with wordpress.com?

this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but you can set up an email address to use for wordpress updates. you email updates to that address and wordpress scans it an makes updates. never used it, so i can't judge the quality.
