I'm in the market for a new cell phone, and I was wondering; is there an inexpensive cell phone that works well with Ubuntu? By "works well", I mean that I can connect it to my computer and get the files off it (pictures etc.) and use it as a modem. If it'd sync with Evolution calenders, that'd be really nice too, but not nessessary. Other features I'd like is a good camera in it, a good battery life, and to run java stuff. I don't want a big smartphone - I just want something that works well. Oh, and it also has to work with Verizon.

Does such a phone exist? And if so, is it in the price range of this poor college student?

Thanks,

-Tirian

I don't think something like that exists... not something that intergrated with Gnome at least.

If you wanted to check out a linux phone that is way cool check out the phone that Trolltech is putting out.

I'll think you'll have to wait I can't think of any that support evolution calenders, might be best with a blue tooth enabled phone ain't sure mind.

Virogenesis: I suppose I could live without Evolution calenders, then. It's not something I really need, but it'd be nice.

Luggy: Wow. That looks nice. And way out of my price range. I want one too!! (:

With the sony ericsson w810 you can mount both the phone and the memory card in Linux so you can at least get pics and whatever else on & off the phone easily. Have no clue about modem use though
