Hi all,
Is there any free program which is closest to Matlab. I know that there is a Matlab version for Linux but that is very expensive.
I don't need to do ultra hi tech stuff. I just need to draw some neat looking graphs in .eps format and some charts too.
Every help is appreciated.
Thanks,

You might want to try Scilab (http://www.scilab.org/), that is (luckily :-D) already present in the universe repository. It is just a
sudo apt-get install scilab scilab-bin scilab-doc
away. The only thing I don't know is how to use it :-D, since I will start my lessons at University about this on September 25th ;-).

GNU Octave is very similar to MATLAB, even to the point of being largely source compatible.
If you just want to make graphs, you may be interested in gnuplot.
Both are in the Ubuntu universe repositories.
