Well, I just wanted to say how impressed I am with Ubuntu.

I've used Linux for 5 years now as my one and only OS, and Ubuntu is the first distro that's really stood out from the crowd, not just another Linux distro. I've always prefered 'vanilla' distros, ones that don't patch the hell out of everything, but mostly because I've never seen a distro include really useful patches before. Ubuntu's menu bar has to be one of the most intuitive changes made to GNOME since I started using it at 1.4! Also, Ubuntu seems to have the 'just works' thing down quite well, and is the first distro I've used where hal actually works, and does what it's supposed to do.

The one thing that's really great about Arch, the distro I've used since March, is the community. Anyone could build and distribute packages, contribute to the docs, etc. I'm interested in getting involved in the same way with Ubuntu, but I'm not sure how to go about it.
