View Full Version : Best PHP IDE?

The Reckoning

I was just wondering what you all think the best PHP IDE for Linux is.
I have tried gPHPEdit and Bluefish, they are decent...
Although, I am looking for something more simpler, but better.
For windows, I like Dreamweaver.
Basically, I need color coding, similiar to Dreamweaver's, and I need tab resuming (auto indent on new line)
I don't want any of that auto fill stuff, I just want a plain coding method.

Thanks for reading :)

I like Jedit (http://www.jedit.org/) for coding php.

I personally use Quanta, I like the features and find it more useful than the alternatives (I've tried Bluefish, Screem and JEdit).

What is it exactly that was bothering you for gPHPEdit & Bluefish? What do you want that is simplier?
I understand if the Bluefish HTML autocompletion stuff annoys you, but I think you can turn it off. gPHPEdit has been my PHP editor of choice for quite some time now. It's simple enough to not get in my way, and advanced enough to help me where I need (quick function reference, function auto completion, color coding, quick test-parsing, open tabs are remembered, etc).

I use Zend, it's commercial, but great, and works great oo in linux.
