I like http://diveintopython.org/toc/

By the way I wrote a small sudoku solver in about 100 lines, which might be a nice project for beginners. But I suggest to try to do your sudoku solver yourself first, and then look at my script

There are 2 guides here:

I always found tldp guides great, so you may give them a try. (They are huge :] )

thinklikeCS is a more traditional book, it moves from programming building blocks to code. Diveintopython does the opposites, it starts from real code and explains how it works.

I have a printed copy of Think like a Computer Scientist - Learning with Python. I like it.

I think it's GNU FreeDoc or something like that, so it should be easy to find.

On this topic, anyone knows an European bookstore that sells these books? (just to make shipping bearable)
