It was really interesting today to see 2 rather positive slashdot effects :-)
(for info on the slashdot effect, see wikipedia: slashdotted (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slashdotted)

First there was the effect of Ubuntu being slashdotted resulting in the website getting almost unreachable and then when the torrent links where placed in the slashdot article, it means better availability (of the cd images).

Then I saw an article on slashdot about encarta taking over wikipedia principles, and a single mention of an article in one of the comments, seems to have resulted in 10 edits of that article in the next few hours where there were only 3 in the 2 months before.
(slashdot (http://developers.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=145464&cid=12178496) and wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_cache_poisoning) )

Now let's find a way to let it have a positive effect on website availability \\:D/
