View Full Version : Searching for more than one term?

September 2nd, 2006, 09:01 PM
I've tried this in multiple forums but it's never worked for me.

What I'd like to do is search for multiple terms, for example "file associations". I do not want search hits to only be for the term "file" or for "associations", they must contain both.

Some forums indicate that you use an "AND" between the words, but when I try "fileANDassociations" or "file AND associations", no hits, so I must be doing this wrong.

I feel like an idiot, this is pretty basic functionality, but I've just never been able to get it to work for any forum running any forum software, ever.

And I really want to search for "file associations" right now.:) Thanks.

Have you tried "file" AND "associates", havent tried it, just an idea.

If you used google you could do: "file associates" site:www.ubuntuforums.org

Whoa, that was it.

I'm used to NOT typing out quotes ("") as they're usually used for illustrative purposes only but that's exactly what was needed. It finds this thread, for example.

Well that's promising :)
