Liked using Audio Recorder with 18.04 but it's not available with 20.04.

Tried Sound Recorder with 20.04 but it won't let me record mp3 files.

What works best with 20.04 to record sounds/music off your monitor with whatever browser you use and save them as an mp3?

I have always used Audacity for all audio recording including recording 18 tracks from a mixer board.

Have Audacity but found it very complex. Can it simply record audio like Audio Recorder did with 18.04?

Playing around with Sound Recorder on 20.04 but it requires a lot of tweaks with Pulse Audio Volume Control.

There is a PPA for audio-recorder which is vailable for all supported, and still to come, ie Jammy, versions of Ubuntu.
It works splendidly in Focal (20.04) and also in Jammy (22.04) and as you obviously kno, is a great deal more simple to use than audacity.

All details of the package and how to enable its repository can be found at https://launchpad.net/~audio-recorder/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

Good luck.

Thanks ajgreeny.

Did what you posted and now have Audio Recorder again on 20.04 as I had on 18.04 and it works just as fine.

Always liked Audio Recorder for its utter simplicity in recording any audio of whatever is on your monitor. Far easier to use than that Sound Recorder on 20.04 or Audacity.
