I've been an Ubuntu user since 2013 (10.10 - 11.04), and in no way a Linux expert. I'm a hands on person, so working through my first experiences/problems with Ubuntu were challenging, but not impossible to solve.
I upgraded 3 years ago, to a "Fractal" home brew PC. It is run by an Asrock Z87, Extreme 4, mainboard, liquid cooled Intel I7, processor, 16GB ram. Just upgraded GPU to an EVGA Nvidia GTX760, that I bought on Ebay.
/dev/sda - 120GB SDD for Windows computing: Windows 10 Pro/Office 2016.
/dev/sdb - Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SDD was added a few days ago. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is installed. Had a boot/Grub2, glitch at first, but now it all works together as expected. Probably invested around 2 hours in the entire install/set up process. 20.04 LTS is amazingly fast on the 870 EVO.
/dev/sdc - 1TB WD mechanical HDD. Ubuntu 20.04 LTS is installed. I will use it as a storage device.
