I am new to Ubuntu and I am trying to configure 20.04 to use the onboard Intel graphics controller for the desktop and an Nvidia 1070 for servicing machine learning tasks. When I install Ubuntu my UEFI was configured to auto detect the active graphics controller which I assume to be the controller that had a monitor plugged into it (in this case it was the Nvidia). The ubuntu install completed flawlessly but now I am trying to figure out how to switch my desktop to the intel controller while leaving the Nvidia controller enabled to service machine learning tasks.

Any help is appreciated.

I recall some similar questions on the askubuntu.com site about this sort of setup.

There are similar questions but the answers they lack the detail for a beginner like myself.
