I'm new to Ubuntu, but not linux. Until now I have mainly used Gentoo, and perhaps got too used to it's ways of manually installing programs. I'm a Java programmer and right now I'm currently using windows XP and ubuntu on a dual boot machine. I would much love to make that computer purely ubuntu however I've been running into problems setting up the newest sun jdk, netbeans (because of the jdk problem) and I haven't even tried to get apache, php and mysql installed yet.

If anyone knows of a guide or knows how to get the sun-jdk 5 or preferably new 6 beta installed it would be a great help.

Thanks very much.

I'm going to keep trying to figure this out while I wait for some responses.

Mike

PS: I really like UBuntu so far. Seems like a great distro and community! Good work
