The new path is meant to be less visible than it used to be. It's sad but Canonical has decided to shut down the mini.iso from 22.04 and the present location is a step in the process.

I've been playing with Debian now for some time, exactly because of the above. I have an Atom netbook-based thin client that is hobbled by a 32-bit MOBO that I've repositioned as a server. It just sips power and is otherwise perfectly suited to my needs, but Canonical's decision to drop 32 bit support orphaned this box and means that I have to either switch to another distro or junk a perfectly good piece of equipment. I know you are aware of this but for others who happen upon this thread, the Debian site for their netboot image is: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianInstaller/Netboot

The Debian mini.iso is pretty easy to use. Since the packaging system and most other basics are identical, it feels eerily like a mirror universe of the Ubuntu environment.

With respect to keeping old HW alive or Canonical's commitment to those who desire absolute minimalism, the writing was already on the wall. This latest decision is but an acceleration of that process.
