My first post -- thanks for suggestions:
I upgraded from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04 and it went fine except that now the Show Applications button no longer displays any applications, and the Search function also does nothing.
Any ideas on how to get the application list back would be appreciated -- thanks.

...I upgraded from Ubuntu 19.10 to 20.04 .....

How did you manage to upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04 LTS?

I did the same thing with

sudo do-release-upgrade -m desktop -d

got the info here:-

https://kifarunix.com/upgrade-ubuntu-18-04-to-ubuntu-20-04/

and yes, it's obviously not the full release, it's a testing release that has to be viewed as use at your own risk.
I have a few minor issues, mostly due to the fact that community based stuff won't catch up for a while, but most things work OK - all the important stuff anyway.

There are a few sites that explain how. I followed this one:

mikelev,
you'll be better off to place your query and similar ones at :

https://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=427 (https://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=2143413)

They deal with development of Focal Fossa

Thanks, I'll try that next time. In the end, I installed 20.04 over the upgraded system, and it's all working now.

I'm not sure if that closes this query, I hope so. Thanks.
