You can install Ubuntu. Whatever is there doesn't matter, it can't be "converted" therefore it's an installation like any other.

1. install "apt" feature
2. add ubuntu sources in your /etc/sources.list
3. install ubuntu basic software, like gnome.

DON'T even try to do this unless you want to end up with a Frankenstein monster. Ubuntu sources are already there, Linux Lite is based on Debian and Ubuntu. "install ubuntu basic software, like gnome" is someone posting vague stuff for the sake of it, really not helpful, especially for newbies.

Again, if you want Ubuntu, install Ubuntu from scratch.

Should check what CPU and how much RAM you have. Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop will like to use more resources than Linux Lite. Depending on what you have, might want to check out the lighter Ubuntu desktops.

If I may suggest, burn a DVD or USB with your preferred Ubuntu flavor and try the "live" version before you attempt to install Ubuntu so as to verify compatibility with your video card, WiFi card, installed RAM, etc.

Burn to DVD - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

Burn to Flash Drive - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/FromUSBStick

If you liked Linux Lite and want to move "up" from there, I suggest Xubuntu because it has a similar desktop (Xfce), but do a fresh installation by all means instead of trying to "convert" Linux Lite into something else. You'll lose all the cool tools and stuff, but if you no longer want them or need them, do a fresh installation of the distro you want with the desktop you want: Ubu, Kubu, Lubu, Xubu, etc.
