I have a old laptop which had windows XP in it preinstalled when I bought it last month. I played around with the XP installation for a while and last night I decided to install BSD on the laptop instead. its a dell lattitude d620 and it hqas intel celeron CPU and 2 gigabytes RAM .
I downloaded the 12.1 BSD DVD and installed it with ZFS file system and I installed gnome3 as desktop manager but it was very slow so I removed it and installed fluxbox instead. when logging on to gnome3 I noticed the root account was listed as Charlie & which I got curious about so I googled it and found this post. https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/109387/what-is-charlie-in-the-gecos-field-on-openbsd-for-root
anyone knows the origin of this name for the root account ?
