Every time I log myass out and back in again, the count of processes I own rises by one. This would seem to indicate, at best, a minor inefficiency inherent to the design of Xubuntu and to Xubuntu's arrangements for desktopism and/or sessionality.

Best thing to do is check your running tasks in Task Manager. Show them in alphabetical order & see if any are listed more than once. Just logging out doesn't always stop every process, & another instance of the same app can start again when you log back in. Redshift is known for this. Logout/in 6 times & you'll have 6 instances of Redshift running. The same thing may happen with other apps as well.
