installing ubuntu on HP Omen 15

At the end of installation when it says restart your computer, my laptop freezes. Incompatibility problems? Problem appears when installing 16.04 or 18.04. For fun i tried to install 14.04 and it was fast and it worked, but i want newer version installed. I read about Nvidia problems but not sure what to do.

As a first step, did you verify the .iso copy ?

Then when booting the install, how far do you get before the system locks up ?
Do you get to the login screen ?
