View Full Version : [SOLVED] Anbox prevents upgrade to 19.10

Hi.

I'm running Ubuntu 19.04 and received the message asking me to upgrade to 19.10.
I happily agreed, but the process keeps aborting with this message:
The upgrade will continue but the 'anbox-modules-dkms' package may not be in a working state.

I tried uninstalling the package and its linked elements, but I seem unable to do it properly.
How can I scrape anbox away from my system?
(if I'm not mistaken it's only used for Android emulation, something I don't need right now)

Thanks for the help :)

what means did you use to do "uninstalling the package and its linked elements"? what exact error message(s) did you get?

Have you tried the procedure given on the Anbox-site (https://docs.anbox.io/userguide/install.html#uninstall-anbox) for uninstalling ?

The remove anbox command says that anbox is not installed.

When I then run ppa-purge I get this error:

First lets see if we get anywhere with:

sudo apt install libelf-dev libelf-devel
Paste back so we all can see that return.
So far one other poster had a fix for himself: https://github.com/anbox/anbox-modules/issues/28

I just can't reproduce your symptoms, but it really sounds like a "possible" fix would be to boot to kernel "5.0.0-32-generic" then try the suggested UN-install procedure.
You are not getting anywhere with kernel "5.3.7-050307-generic".
I have a 12 hour day at work so I won't be around today.
Good Luck.

Hasimir

I'll try that.
Thanks for all the help you gave me!
I'll keep you posted on the results ;)

Hasimir

Nope.
I installed and switched to the older kernel...

$ uname -r5.0.2-050002-generic

But I keep getting the same results when running the uninstall procedures ( https://docs.anbox.io/userguide/install.html#uninstall-anbox ) T_T

SUCCESS! :D
I was trying to remove an ooold version of Skype... and was failing... and ended up opening the Synaptic manager to see if something showed up there. And it did. And I removed it. But still I got errors come up in relation to anbox!

So I thought: what will turn up if I search for "anbox" in Synaptic?
Turns out there was a module.
I marked it for complete removal.
And it worked! :D
No my updates are error free :D

Sorry for the delay, my old bones can't handle my work load, hour wise.
