updating from LTS 14.04

Hi I want to update Ubuntu LTS 14.04 to the latest stable Ubuntu. I searched but results showed from 3 years ago. Can I just update, thanks.

Take a look at the Ubuntu site below which gives information on doing various upgrades. You need to upgrade from one LTS release to another (14.04 to 16.04 then 18.04).

You might read the pages at the link below on upgrading from EOL systems such as 14.04 which has not been supported since April of this year.

Upgrades generally take longer than a new install and you need to have a good/reliable internet connection. You may be better off with a fresh install after backing up your personal data. Good luck.

There is no reliable or supported way to update from 14.04 to anything at 2019.10. You'll need to backup important files and reinstall.
