you con follow the development on the penguin.swf blog (http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/) if you want to stay up to date with the progress that is being made. apparently it is coming along quite well. i don't think there has been any news as of yet on whether or when there will be a beta/final release.

Just out of curiosity, I went to the site and the ones that require Flash 9.0 that I found quickly also require Windows Media Player. The Flash 9 can be accomplished, the Windows Media, not so much.
