Ubuntu 18.04 LTS and Splunk

I just installed 18.04 LTS to run Splunk at home. I found that if I log off, the computer eventually just goes into hibernation mode and the only way to get it out was to power off the computer and power it back on. The only option that I think I have is to just lock the log in screen so that I can hopefully access it anytime I need to. Is there a way to log off and still keep everything running in the background and the computer not go into hibernation mode?
