Installing ubuntu 18.04 on iMac Pro (Radeon Vega 64)

Long story, tl;dr:

Finally accomplished making an 18.04 Live thumb drive, and booting to it. No matter what, I get a black screen.

Tried:
nomodeset
radeon.modeset=0
nouveau.modeset=0


Still black screen. I'm assuming I need to get Radeon Vega 64 drivers into the install somehow. How?

(I tried Google-ing ubuntu on iMac Pro and it looks like somehow nobody has ever tried it???)

With a graphics card like this your chances are better with Ubuntu 19.04.
