Thunderbird in U17.10

I'm a bit new to Ubuntu and ver. 17.10. my software app doesn't let me install new apps due to some kind of Thunderbird issue. I am thinking about upgrading to U18.10. Advice please, will that upgrade repair the Thunderbird issue? I love Linux and Ubuntu big time!

Ubuntu 17.10 (Artful Aardvark) was the 27th release of Ubuntu. Support ended on July 19th, 2018. See

As much has changed since 17.10 I do highly recommend a new fresh install of a current release. Present for the Long Term Support release is 18.04 - with a interim release - 19.04 - due out April 18.
