Hey all, I have a Dell optiplex gx620. Pentium D 940, 4GB RAM, 250 GB SSHD, Sapphire Technology ATI Radeon HD 4550 Graphics Card.

It’s currently running the latest stable Xubuntu perfectly! But Inreally love Ubuntu over Xubuntu. Would my system be enough to run the latest Ubuntu without issue? I looked at system specs and it seems fine, but then I read some posts saying it may be a hog on system resources.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

…Thoughts?
Just my usual advice in such matters…

Run and LiveUSB session on your setup and judge for yourself. Downloads are free… ;)

Well, if that’s your usual advice... that’s pretty good advice! Why didn’t I think of that, lol!

You might also want to try out the other flavours while you are at it. Many users report a liking for alternative light flavours like Budgie and Mate. If the Ubuntu flavour proves too taxing on your gear, Kubuntu likely will as well, but one never knows.

If you don't like Xubuntu because you find it too spartan, then Lubuntu is downright ascetic. But, like I just said, one never knows.

Try them all out. They're all available for the price of a download.

Good Luck and Happy 'buntu-ing!
