Hi all,
So I am considering upgrading from 18.04 to 18.10, but I have a few questions regarding this process. First, I am running 18.04 and manually upgraded the kernel to 4.20, will upgrading to 18.10 revert me back to 4.18? If so, its not big deal to upgrade to 4.20. Second, will my gnome extensions be removed? Thirdly, will all my manually added PPAs be removed as well? The main reason I am considering moving to 18.10 to upgrade to GNOME 3.30. Any reasons why I shouldn't consider this? I have heard that Ubuntu is going to be backporting some of the updates from GNOME 3.30. I did notice a GNOME shell update the other night that I installed. Any insight into this? Thanks for any help!

PPA's will be disabled automatically or you can do it manually from software and updates. The meta packges dictate what packages upgrade so I don't know if the newer kernel will be removed or cause update issues. There is some backport duscussion here (https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ongoing-backport-of-gnome-performance-fixes-to-bionic/7922).
