So my Wife, kids and I go strolling into the toy section at Target (www.target.com) (my fave home store) on Friday. I've been wanting to get a "Lightning McQueen (http://img.lenta.ru/news/2006/05/15/schumacher/picture.jpg)" car from the Pixar movie "Cars (http://www.pixar.com/featurefilms/cars/)" for my son who is 2. You know something big, soft plastic, about 12" long and rolls nice.
I go down the toy car isle and see these nice little diecast "Disney-Cars" cars done by Mattel (www.mattel.com). REALLY nice. Detailed, heavy and good scale (1:64). Like normal Hot-Wheels (http://www.mattel.com/our_toys/ot_hotw.asp) or Matchbox (www.matchbox.com). SOmething I also I liked was that all the cars are in scale to each other.
So we get the ones we can find there. Seven cars. I look on the back of the box to see how many there are. There are twelve. Then I thought, there is another Target 2 mins up the road. So I figure I'll go up there and see if I can find the rest.
I get to the second Target and find they have five more that I needed and these "Movie Moments" double-car packs. Also the I found werent the five I was looking for. I look on the back of these boxes and see they've expanded the line to sixteen. Great. I went to 8 Targets around Raleigh, N.C. Its sad I know where all of 'em are. I even went to 2 in Durham.
So I go back to the house to research the line. Come to find out these damn things are a SUPER HOT item right now. Full sets going for $150 (US) on eBay and crap.
So with that Im obsessed with getting 4 sets. One to keep for me. One set for my son and two to sell on eBay. http://ubuntuforums.org/images/icons/icon13.gif
Evidence of my obsession.
