For the life of me I can't seem to disable the screen lock. I walk away, come back later, and I see the time on my screen. I don't have the machine set to login so I usually just hit the space bar, but I'd like to stop it from locking...thank you for any hints.

Screen Lock (Ubuntu):

Settings > Privacy > Screen Lock (on/off)

It might also be a screensaver, if Ubuntu ships with one.
Search for that and see if it is setup to autostart with the session, and also if it locks the display when it starts.

Thanks for the replies. Screen Lock is currently off in settings, gnome-screensaver is installed but inactive, also no option for a screensaver in settings. It's got me stumped.

Check that the Power manager is not set to blank the screen. Computer with switch to a digital clock screen when you press a key while screen is blanked, which is probably what is happening.

Settings > Power > Power Saving > Blank Screen (set time or turn off)

Ah...yea that was it...not screen locking but screen blanking. Thank you!
