Hi,

A while back, I installed java and eclipse (apt-getting "sun-java5-jdk" and "eclipse-platform" respectively). That installed Eclipse 3.1.2 for me, and although that's been working great, I want to run Eclipse 3.2.

What's the best way for me to do this?

The update manager still says the version of Eclipse I have is the latest. Will manually installing the new version of Eclipse cause problems if/when there is an official Ubunutu version of Eclipse 3.2?

Thanks in advance.

I have sun's java from the repos installed and I have eclipse 3.2 I installed myself running just fine. Just download and extract the eclipse folder from eclipse's website.

Becuase there is a bug right now that makes eclipse ignore ubuntu's common java setting you have to have a small work around. I used this guide to edit where eclipse looked for java:

I had to upgrade to elipse 3.2 for school but I think it works a lot better than the one in the repos and wasn't too much of a fuss to get installed.
