View Full Version : [ubuntu] After upgrade 16.04 -> 18.04: Annoying nautilus issues

After having upgraded from 16.04 to 18.04, I encounter the following issues with nautilus:

Nautilus is starting EXTREMELY slow (> 15 sec )!
I cannot open folders on the desktop anymore
(I can open them, once nautilus is started from within nautilus, though.
I can create new folders right-clicking on the desktop, but cannot open then afterwards on the desktop.)
Clicking on "Windows networks" an error occurs telling that the list of the samba shares cannot be received (I got the message in German, so I do not know the exact phrase in English.) When I open manually smb://<ip-address>, all my shares appear as expected from my server.
I already tried out many of the tips I found when searching the net, but nothing helped so far.

I also already re-installed nautilus and also gdm3, but this did not solve any of these problems.

Probably something is wrong with the nautilus integration with gdm.

Interestingly, on a second device which is brand-new and freshly installed, none of the above described issues occur. But I really hesitate to install Ubuntu from the scratch with a lot of configuration work thereafter.

So I would really appreciate any help with these issues.
