Hi all, Ubuntu 18.10 install from USB seems to install, but doesn't boot. I get "error: no such partition, Entering rescue mode.... grub rescue> and a flashing curser, and not able to enter any commands. Ctrl alt del does work though. Believe this laptop has some kind of eufi firmware which is causing the problems, but there seems to be no way to disable it on this laptop.Have read that it is possible to install with this version of Ubuntu, but have had no luck so far. Have been trying since before xmas from advice for other Acer laptops, but had no luck. More comfortable with hardware than software so this is doing my head in. Also, this is a completely new hard drive as the original one died. Any help greatly appreciated.

Update - has actually installed this time, but is now randomly rebooting, very annoying.

Hi Quirky747 (https://ubuntuforums.org/member.php?u=1775775),

Would you mind trying installing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS and let us know if you still experience the same issue?

Hi, after more research it seems this laptop looks for windows o.s. when it starts up, hence my problems. Somehow I need to partition the hdd with an efi and various other partitions with acer rescue programs, I just can't find out how as yet, will keep looking, but will accept any advice anyone has.
