I installed 18.04 standard ubuntu (with gnome session) but due to limited memory it was extremely slow. I added the lxde session which was much faster and then removed the gnome session.
I have since upgraded the machine and tried to add the ubuntu-session again but it won't start - from lightdm it returns to login. gdm won't start at all. I don't want to do a complete reinstall because I am running a nextcloud server and don't want to have to set that up again!
Any suggestions as to where I might look appreciated.
Update - decided not to bother!
