Lubuntu 18.10 (Desktop 32 bit)
Compaq Presario V3000, 11 year-old notebook
Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM 2 GB

I have an extended LED monitor namely Samsung SyncMaster S19B150 and disable the notebook screen.

After turning on the notebook, the resolution is back to 1280x720 - I have to set up the resolution of the extended monitor to be 1366x768 every time.

Why Lubuntu did not save the setting even though I clicked both 'Applied' and 'Save' ?

How is the monitor connected to the laptop: VGA cable? You may want to try a different VGA cable. Some of the cheaper cables don't have the wire that tells the computer what resolution the monitor is.

Yes, it's VGA cable.
I've just moved from Linux Mint 19.0 xfce and at that time I might use LM with low resolution even though it was full screen.
Thank you so much for your help.
I will try to use other VGA cables.
And if it does not work, I will come back again.

After upgrading for many times, it is now ok and very nice. I am so happy.
